Lung Surgery Bras
You deserve comfort in your recovery. And for us, it's personal.
Our lung surgery bras were thoughtfully designed following our family's challenging experience finding proper support during recovery from chest surgery. After witnessing the difficulties our mother faced finding comfortable, well-fitting bras during her healing process, we realized that quality post-surgical support shouldn't be so hard to find.

FAQs
Which heart&core bra should I wear after lung surgery?
Which heart&core bra should I wear after lung surgery?
We offer three options based on your recovery stage and surgical needs:
- Larissa Bra: Best if your surgery required surgical drains. Features specialized drain management tabs to keep drains secure and comfortable.
- Serena Bra: Ideal for recovery after drains are removed or if your surgery didn't require drains.
- Shirl Bra: Featuring a double zipper that allows for adjustability in the front closure. Perfect for weight loss and accommodating changes in size as swelling decreases.
All three bras provide the gentle support needed after chest surgery while allowing easy breathing.
What types of lung surgery benefit from wearing a post-surgical bra?
What types of lung surgery benefit from wearing a post-surgical bra?
Many lung procedures benefit from supportive post-surgical bras, including lobectomy (removal of a lung lobe), pneumonectomy (removal of an entire lung), wedge resection or segmentectomy, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), thoracotomy procedures, and lung biopsy surgeries. These procedures often involve incisions along the chest wall or between the ribs, and a supportive bra helps stabilize the surgical area, protect incisions, and provide comfort as chest tissues heal.
Will wearing a bra after lung surgery make it harder to breathe?
Will wearing a bra after lung surgery make it harder to breathe?
No—our lung surgery bras are specifically designed to provide support without restricting breathing, which is crucial during pulmonary recovery. The compression is gentle and adjustable, never tight or constricting. The breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics promote airflow, and the design allows your chest to expand fully with each breath.
Why is the front closure important for lung surgery recovery?
Why is the front closure important for lung surgery recovery?
After lung surgery, deep breathing exercises and coughing are essential for preventing complications like pneumonia and promoting lung re-expansion. Reaching behind your back to fasten a traditional bra can be painful and may restrict the deep breathing your recovery requires. Front closure bras eliminate this struggle, making it easy to dress independently without compromising your breathing exercises or causing unnecessary discomfort to your chest and shoulder areas.
Can I use my FSA or HSA to purchase a lung surgery bra?
Can I use my FSA or HSA to purchase a lung surgery bra?
Yes! Our lung surgery bras are FSA and HSA approved, which means you can use your pre-tax health savings funds to purchase them. This makes it easier to access the specialized support garments you need during your pulmonary recovery.
